Goodbye Amy ....

I've always loved the legend that is Miss Winehouse- I loved her quirky style, beehive hair, pin up girl tattoos, headscarfs, common cockney accent, black flicked out eyeliner and ballet pumps. Most of all I loved her distinguised voice that could only be rivalled by female jazz singers of the 1940s  such as billy holiday, dinah washington and ella johnson. A rare talent and beautiful songbird, amy will be a legend forever, kept alive by her amazing and soul searching songs. A sad loss for her family, friends,  fans and the music of the 21st century.

The only time I had the priveledge to see Amy was at T in the Park a few years ago and this is her ironically singing the last song she sung at her final performance in Belgrade:

Goodbye to a truely beautiful and genuine music artist.

Happy Glamping

My husband and best friends got me the best birthday gift ever this weekend and I was sent to Roulotte Retreat in Bowden in the Scottish Borders. This place really is something else and is only a 50 min drive away from Edinburgh city centre. Maybe the weather helped this weekend but I honestly felt like I was staying in the south of france, the surrounding area is beautiful and the local villages are so friendly and relaxing.

We chose the French roulotte Karlotta which was dressed in purples, reds and golds with beautiful art deco furnishings. The setting was so romantic and charming, you felt as if you  are back in time.  Set in a little prairy with wild ferns and flowers round about, lakes, barbecue area, geese, swallows, horses, stunning views of country side and eidon hills you might not even want to leave the retreat. There are also other roulottes that look equally as gorgeous as Karlotta and an old horseshoe cottage that can be hired out. When I spoke to Avril the owner there is also plans for new roulottes and  renovations, shabby chic dining area and yoga classes- as if its not fabulous enough already.  Perfect for couples, honeymoons, girly getaways, fashion shoots and boutique weddings. Priced from £90 per night , I would definetaly recommend a stay at this unique and romantic little hideaway.
